Superbowl Party for the City

So for the Superbowl (or "big game" or whatever you're supposed to call it), our campus hosted a big party for all of the homeless people around West Palm Beach. We gave away clothes, gave haircuts, washed feet and had an enormous buffet set up for them. Somehow we ended up with almost twice as many volunteers as homeless people but it was an awesome (and very cold) night.

Yum!

I'm totally aware that I have a lot of pictures to post but this news release is much more urgent and important:

Pioneer Woman's Apple Dumplings are incredibly delicious. You must go make some NOW.

Project 365 Days 36, 37, 38, 39

Day 39:
So, David and I are looking at different opportunities to do fun things before we have kids, jobs and other crazy responsibilities and we really want to go overseas. So we have to get all kinds of crazy background checks done. Today I went to the Jupiter Police Station to have my fingerprints made (which is not free. Jerks) and they spelled my name wrong. Seriously?! Don't worry, they don't keep the fingerprint charts there either, so you have to go find them somewhere else (?!) and come back for them to be redone. Geez.

Day 38:
Superbowl Sunday! Our church held a big party for all the homeless people and I made these football-esque cookies. Baking is not my thing and they looked better than they tasted but I gave it a valiant effort.

Day 37:
We are obsessed with the West Palm Beach Green Market. It's full of fun things to eat and I like to pretend that I'm there to admire the vegetables instead of the donuts. This is not the case but I thought it was a pretty stellar picture regardless!

Day 36:
Sometimes this Project 365 thing is hard. I leave my camera at home and then at about 10pm I realize that I haven't taken a picture of the day yet, so I'm stuck wandering around my room looking for something picture-worthy. Today it's the book I just finished - Eats, Shoots & Leaves, which was about punctuation. I'm trying to deviate from Jodi Picoult/Nicholas Sparks books and this was definitely different.

Project 365 Days 33, 34 and 35

Day 35:
I've never met a real celebrity. And I have a ridiculously small amount of autographs. I think this is because I wouldn't recognize most celebrities if they were right in front of my face. Anyways, I'm finally getting there. Today, David brought this home for me - it's a Georgia shirt signed by none other than Hershel Walker! Now I just need to figure out what to do with it...
Day 34:
In conjunction with the Human Trafficking theme at church, there are a lot of fun things available to buy. Hooray! I bought this super cute bracelet that is made out of magazines by women in Uganda who have been displaced. It's colorful and matches everything and goes to a great cause.
Day 33:
Tonight is the first day of the last season of LOST! I'm sad that this will be the last season, but I can't wait to see how everything ends. There are still so many weird questions that need to be answered - I'm pretty sure I'll be disappointed at the end of the season, but I'm excited to find out for sure.

Project 365 Days 30, 31 and 32

Day 32:
Today is blah. While the weather here is definitely better than most of the country, it has been raining all day. And it's cold. I have cabin fever.
Day 31:
As much as I love weekends, sometimes Sundays are really, really long. Today we were asked to go to all 3 services at the Ascent (9, 11 and 7pm) which meant killing the whole day. We decided to play in Wellington where I promptly had a mental breakdown.

Day 30:
Tonight we had a delicious dinner at my new favorite pizza place - Anthony's Coal Fired pizza. Is there anything better than bread covered in cheese & tomatoes and then cooked in a coal oven? I think not. This was our first visit but we'll definitely be back.

LOST

Tonight at the library, I decided that I need to start keeping a list of books I've read. So I wanted to add it to the sidebar of my blog, and somehow my technically savvy self lost the background I had. I've searched and searched but it is nowhere to be found :(

Anyways, I have a list of books I've read/am reading but every time I go to the library, I am at a loss for what to get. I need book suggestions! Please!

Oh, and speaking of LOST - it makes a much anticipated return tomorrow night! Hallelujah!
